Universal Music Group has officially announced its plans to cancel all ongoing services within Russia due to its invasion of Ukraine.
The country announced its intentions in a statement that said: “Effective immediately, we will suspend all operations in Russia and close our offices there. We urge an end to the violence in Ukraine as soon as possible.”
“We adhere to international sanctions and, together with our employees and artists, have been working with groups from a variety of countries (including the US, UK, Poland, Slovakia, Germany, the Czech Republic and Hungary) to support the humanitarian relief efforts to bring urgent aid to refugees in the region.”
sources close to Variety however, they have announced that the company’s employees inside Russia will continue to receive their salaries for an undisclosed period of time.
This move is similar to that of Mc Donald’s, which temporarily closed 850 locations in the country, but continues to pay its employees.
