Mumbai, May 9: Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh considers 19-year-old left-handed batsman Tilak Varma to be a brilliant investment from the Mumbai Indians and the talented cricketer will serve them for the next 10 years in the IPL.
The Mumbai Indians have lost eight games in 10 outings and are out of playoff contention in ICB 2022but middle-order batsman Varma has been impressive this season, scoring 328 runs in 10 innings at an average of 41.
Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh praised the Mumbai Indians for showing faith in the young talents of Varma and South African Dewald Brevis showing flashes of greatness.
“Verma and Brevis are like investments for Mumbai Indians. The team has invested correctly in these young talents and will reap the benefits for many years to come,” Harbhajan told Star Sports.
“Brevis and Tilak have shown glimpses of their talent and will be donning the IM jersey for the next 10 years. We have seen some incredible talent in this competition and the confidence these youngsters are displaying is simply outstanding,” he said.
Former India pacemaker Irfan Pathan echoed Harbhajan’s sentiments, saying that Varma is a talented left-handed batsman, worth gold in cricket.
“Any time a youngster does well, he starts to believe he belongs here and once he gets the confidence, he looks to cement his position in the team. We’re seeing the same thing with Tilak Varma. He’s a talented left-handed middle order hitter, is worth gold in cricket,” said Pathan.
“Every team is looking to have a southpaw because he plays with ease, they have that natural ability to handle those angles from left arm and leg spins. This young hero is going to become a superhero for MI if he continues to play like this. He will play for the franchise for a long time.” the next ten years,” he said.
