August: April 6 (IANS) American golfer Tiger Woods has said he intends to play in the 2022 Masters tournament.
“From now on, I feel like I’m going to play,” the 46-year-old said at a news conference at Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia, USA, on Wednesday (IST).
Woods, a five-time Masters champion and 15-time Grand Slam winner, arrived in Augusta on Sunday to prepare and practice, tweeting that it is a “moment-of-game decision” whether he will compete, Xinhua reports.
“I will be heading to Augusta today (April 3) to continue my preparation and practice. It will be a decision at game time if I compete,” Woods tweeted.
Woods suffered traumatic injuries to his right leg in a car accident 14 months ago. But when asked at the news conference if he thought he could win this week, Woods said without hesitation: “Yes, yes!” The Masters 86 will take place from April 7 to 10. On Tuesday, the tournament also announced the first-day player brackets. Woods was assigned to Group 14.
