We already knew that Netflix’s science fiction anthology love, death and robots returned for a third volume. But thanks to a new trailer, we now also know what to expect. As always, the show will feature short animated stories that generally fall into the sci-fi, horror, and occasionally fantasy genres. But what it really does love, death and robots What stands out is the variety of stories it tells. This season looks no different, with animations ranging from hyper-realistic to mind-blowing cel-shaded.
Netflix says the new season will feature nine stories, and if there’s a unifying theme, aside from love, death and the titular robots, it could be animals. The trailer includes giant crabs, warrior rats, cyborg bears, and what appears to be an astronaut kitten. Plus, there’s a not-so-subtle dig at tech billionaires. The show’s third volume, produced by Tim Miller and David Fincher, will begin streaming on May 20.
