Sony has updated its PlayStation Plus FAQ page (hidden at the bottom here) and is clamping down on loopholes that gave users early discounts on its upcoming PlayStation Plus Premium service. It’s also pausing activation of PlayStation Plus and Now coupons for current subscribers until its new service launches in June, and there’s even an official conversion table showing the value of those coupons for its next three services; PlayStation Plus Essentials, Extra and Premium.
after sony announced its plan to restructure PlayStation Plus in a new three-tier service to promote compete with Microsoft and Nintendo services, things were a bit vague on how the conversion to the new levels will work. Users began racking up prepaid subscriptions to PlayStation Now, Sony’s cloud streaming service on consoles and PCs, hoping the $59.99 per year service would become the next $119.99 per year PlayStation Plus Premium. . Sony was quick to stop many people from taking advantage of that discount, but it couldn’t stop people from buying and redeeming the cards for Some type of service, and the remaining PS Now voucher cards will get you at least a partial subscription to PlayStation Plus Premium.
At least they will from June. Sony is now preventing many people from redeeming prepaid vouchers until after the PS Plus relaunch. Only users who are not yet subscribed can redeem a prepaid card for one, three or 12 months, which are still sold at many retailers (including directly sony).
What happens if you have a prepaid voucher once June arrives? Well, it will still be worth redeeming them once you can. Sony made this helpful chart to explain how much they’re worth when converting to the new service. While a month of PlayStation Now won’t get you a month of PlayStation Plus Premium, Sony says you’ll still get “time equivalent to the monetary value of your original voucher.
Did I say useful? I meant to say horrible. But just as Sony’s announcement of its new PS Plus service has been full of confusionSo has your conversion communication so far. Hopefully the next new information from Sony will be the full list of games that can be accessed with PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium, so people have a clearer idea of why These new levels are worth a subscription.
