Simone Ashley opened up about going through a challenging phase after a breakup before landing her role in Bridgerton.
In a new interview on the Reign with Josh Smith podcast, Sister The actor opened up about running away from his “uncomfortable feelings” and said he wasn’t taking care of himself.
She said, “I was actually going through a breakup between 2019 and 2020, right before I had Bridgerton and I wasn’t taking care of myself. He was being very hard on myself.”
“I was running away from sitting down with uncomfortable feelings, putting that off and putting up a wall to accept change,” Ashley added.
“I’ve always been so fearless and brave in that sense, but it was something in my life that really hit me and I wasn’t embracing change and embracing how to work on myself and love myself.”
He went on to talk about how he got through that dark phase of his life, saying, “And then I think actually getting Bridgerton it changed that for me because I was like, ‘Well, if it’s not for me, at least I have to do it for my job.’”
“I wouldn’t want anything to stop me from achieving my dreams or being good at my job. I have worked very hard up to this point,” she added.
The 27-year-old actress said she worked on her well-being by “sitting with her thoughts” as well as “exercising, drinking plenty of water and eating well.”
“So I’m proud of myself because I take care of myself in every possible way,” Ashley concluded.
“I went through a very difficult time in my life and now here I am and whatever life throws at me, it could be (expletive), it could be great, but I have this.”
