Bhubaneswar, May 22: Former champion Sethu FC defeated Hans Women 5-0 in the Hero Indian Women’s League here on Sunday.
With this win, Sethu consolidated second place after Gokulam with 31 points from 10 matches. A brace from Devneta and a solo goal from Sandhiya, Lavanya and Vanlalmawii ensured the Tamil Nadu team won all three points in the game.
Sethu got off to a fast start to the game with Devneta finding the net as early as the second minute when she sent the ball home from a Sandhiya cross. In the 16th minute, he doubled her team’s lead, making it a brace for her again scoring from the same spot through a Sandhiya cross.
From then on, it turned out to be a one-sided affair, as Sethu FC continued to dominate Hans in every department. In the 38th minute, Sandhiya found the net with a shot inside the area from the left flank to keep it 0-3 at half-time.
After the respite, the demolition continued. As Sethu kept up the waves of attack. In the 72nd minute, Lavanya hit the net to increase the lead. And finally, Vanlalmawii scored the game-winner in the 88th minute to secure Sethu’s 0-5 win.
