Earlier, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel had said he hoped Ancelotti would be at the match.
“It’s always much better and nicer to be there and have a direct influence. He’s a great coach, a great personality, it would be nice to have him on the sidelines in these types of games,” Tuchel said Tuesday.
“It’s what we coaches like the most, being in the middle of the group, constantly communicating not only with words, but also with a smile, a hug,” he added.
Tuchel’s side had beaten the Spanish 3-1 on aggregate in last year’s semi-final and will be looking to repeat their performance. However, they are not in good form heading into this match as Brentford beat them 4-1 in the Premier League over the weekend.
