Prince Harry and Meghan Markle face the prospect of being booed by the British public if they return to the UK for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, a royal expert has said.
The Duke of Sussex told Hoda Kotb last week that he is still unsure if he will visit for the celebrations, even as there have been reports that the Queen has extended an invitation to him and Meghan to appear on the Sussex Palace balcony. Buckingham.
Royal expert Dustin Larcombe later weighed in on Harry’s remarks, saying it could be possible that Harry and Meghan skip the festivities entirely as they did with Prince Philip’s memorial service.
Speaking to Closer magazine, Larcombe said: “Although they need their royal connection, I really don’t think they’ll be back for the Jubilee.”
“I think there is a genuine possibility that they will be booed on the balcony, and that risk of humiliation will be too great for them. Harry says lack of security prevents him from coming, but I think that’s just an excuse.”
Larcombe also said that if Harry and Meghan have a “game plan” to bring about the monarchy’s plan, “they will fail”.
“If part of that plan is to try to bring down the royal family, then they won’t succeed, because Harry and Meghan aren’t as popular as they might have hoped, and they’re not always believable,” he said. .
