Prince Harry was reportedly the one who contacted his father, Prince Charles, and his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, to arrange his secret meeting with them late last week, it reported. Sun.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stopped in the UK on Thursday as they headed to the Netherlands to attend this week’s Invictus Games.
The trip marked the first time Prince Harry and Meghan had returned to the UK together since retiring from royal duties in 2020.
Senior royal sources were quoted as saying: “Harry contacted his father and told him he was coming with Meghan and wanted to meet him. Harry instigated everything. It was an olive branch from Harry and was done in an effort to clear the air.”
Insiders added: “He approached Charles, who was obviously very happy, and he accepted.”
As previously reported, insiders also claimed that the Queen only met Harry and Meghan after they met Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.
The meetings were described as “incredibly warm, friendly and cordial”.
The couple also made it clear that the Queen will meet her great-grandchildren Archie and Lilibet “very soon”.
A source noted: “Both the Duke and Duchess are well aware that the Queen is aging and has had health problems associated with her advanced age. They have made it clear that they certainly plan to return to see the Queen with her family in the near future.”
