Panic’s Playdate, its quirky, hand-cranked Game Boy-like handheld device, will finally start shipping today, April 18, the company announced.

Panic estimates that all Group One orders will have shipped by the end of May, but that could be subject to change, Cruz-Alvarez said.

Originally, the first pre-orders for the device were supposed to ship in end of 2021but that timeline was pushed back in November after Panic discovered that the initial finished units had a big battery problem.
Everyone who gets a Playdate will have access to its first 24-game season. Two games will be delivered each week for 12 weeks, though those deliveries start when you first connect your device to Wi-Fi, meaning not everyone will have access to the same games at the same time.
