Mumbai, April 29: Together Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal are affectionately called ‘KulCha’ in the Indian cricket circle. They are both good friends and have met a similar fate recently as they lost their respective places on the Indian white ball team.
But now ‘KulCha’ is back in form at IPL 2022. They are the two most successful bowlers in the event. Friends off the pitch, Yadav and Chahal are in a close fight over the Purple Cap, currently held by Chahal, who has 18 wickets in eight matches.
On Thursday, Yadav moved up to second place on the top bowlers list with a haul of 4/14 against Kolkata Knight Riders at Wankhede Stadium. He now has 17 wickets at a strike rate of 10.47 compared to Chahal’s 10.65.
Yadav said that there is no competition or rivalry with Chahal.
“He encouraged me a lot. He has been like a big brother and supported me in my bad times. In my heart, I want him to go and win the Purple Cap because he has bowled exceptionally for the last four years – said Yadav.
He said that the period when he was struggling to get land has made him mentally strong.
“When you fail in life, you know where you went wrong. When you manage to realize that, you become stronger mentally and you are no longer afraid of failure.” Yadav picked Andre Russell’s turf as his favorite of the four he got on Thursday. He said that he prepared it well and therefore it was very dear to him.
The Delhi Capitals spinner further said that he feels this is his best season in the IPL and has endorsed his ability. He concluded by saying that for this season, his focus has been landing the ball in the right areas.
