Microsoft has started testing ray tracing support for Minecraft on Xbox Series X/S consoles. a new Minecraft The preview build is available for Xbox Insiders and includes limited ray tracing support. The latest test build is also marked as optimized for Xbox Series X/S, suggesting a next-gen patch is coming soon.
I’ve been trying the latest Minecraft Preview, and I’ve been able to successfully enable some ray tracing support. However, it is not a simple change. MinecraftRay tracing is enabled via additional resource packs, and there is no easy way to download and install them on the Xbox version of the game at this time. However, there is a solution. You can host a Minecraft session on a Windows PC with packages enabled, and an Xbox player can join that session and ray tracing will be enabled.

You can then turn ray tracing support on or off from the settings menu. While there is also a setting for scaling support, this appears to be limited to Nvidia’s DLSS on the PC side at the moment. Hopefully that will eventually spread to AMD FSR 2.0 support on Xboxor other magnification techniques.
Minecraft Xbox gamers have been waiting a long time to hear about ray tracing on Xbox Series X/S. Microsoft originally teased Minecraft ray tracing on Xbox Series X two years ago, and the addition of support in the latest preview build suggests it could be on the way soon.
MinecraftThe blocky aesthetic was originally updated as part of the ray tracing launch for the Windows 10 version of the game in December 2020. The ray tracing is most noticeable in the reflections of the water or the shadows inside Minecraftor through the additional details in the texture packs.
