Meghan Markle may never have met her mother-in-law, Princess Diana, but she sure knows how to pay tribute to the late Lady D!
The Duchess of Sussex attended Global Citizen Live in New York City in September 2021 and opted for a classic Dior bag to complete her look; a Lady Dior, named after Diana herself!
According financial time, Diana was presented with the first Lady Dior bag, designed by Dior designer Gianfranco Ferre, in 1995 by the then First Lady of France.
The People’s Princess carried the bag practically everywhere, to the point that it was named Lady Dior in her honor.
As for Meghan, however, she was not able to wear the original Lady Dior made in 1995, but instead a reimagined version designed by Dior creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri, renamed ‘Lady D-Lite’.
speaking to FOOT, Chiuri said: “I made the bag soft, changed the dimensions and materials, then added matte finishes and an ultra matte leather. I transformed it into a piece with infinite potential.”
While it wasn’t the original bag Diana wore, it sure was a nod to Meghan’s mother-in-law!
