Mumbai, April 20: Lucknow Super Giants skipper KL Rahul has been fined 20 per cent of his match fee for violating the Indian Premier League (IPL) Code of Conduct during his team’s match against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the stadium DY Patil here Tuesday night.
An IPL statement said that “Rahul admitted to the IPL Code of Conduct Level 1 offense and accepted the sanction.” Rahul’s teammate, Marcus Stoinis, has been reprimanded for breaching the Indian Premier League’s Code of Conduct during his own match.
The 32-year-old Australian admitted to the Level 1 violation of the IPL Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction. “For Level 1 infractions of the Code of Conduct, the decision of the Match Official is final and binding,” the IPL statement said.
Lucknow Super Giants lost the match by 18 runs with RCB captain Faf du Plessis playing the decisive shot of 96 in 64 deliveries to help his team struggle 181/6. In response, the KL Rahul team was able to manage just 163, with the captain emerging as the second-best runner on his team with 30 runs.
Stoinis contributed 24 runs in the chase and conceded 14 runs in one over without taking a wicket while bowling.
