Mumbai, April 8: Liam Livingstone shot 64 in 27 deliveries, his second straight IPL half-century, but Punjab Kings lost their way a bit before recovering to record 189/9 in 20 overs against Gujarat Titans at Brabourne Stadium here on Friday Livingstone came in with PBKS struggling at 2-34 and then added 52 runs for the third wicket partnership with Shikhar Dhawan (35, 30b, 4×4). He then completed his half century with 21 balls, hammering debutant Darshan Nalkande for a six and four in one over and hitting him for two consecutive fours in another over. Livingstone went on to exploit his second straight IPL half-century to help PBKS bounce back.
The Englishman had hit a similar 60 against Chennai Super Kings in their previous match which helped the team record their second win.
Punjab Kings lost their way a bit in the middle overs when Jitesh Sharma (23 from 11 balls) and Odean Smith (0) were eliminated in successive deliveries of Nalkande’s third over. Although Shah Rukh Khan avoided the hat-trick, he didn’t last long either, caught by Rashid Khan.
Livingstone perished going for an extra shot when he mis-hit David Miller on the edge off Rashid Khan. PBKS, which was cruising at 150/5 on lap 15, soon hit 154/7 on lap 16 and dropped to 162/9 on lap 18.
Rahul Chahar (22 not out of 14) and Arshdeep Singh (10 out of 5) struck some hard shots in the last two overs as Punjab Kings hit a challenging 189/9 in 20 overs.
For Gujarat Titans, Rashid Khan was the most successful bowler at 3/22, while Darshan Nalkande claimed 2/37 from three overs on his debut.
