Bhubaneswar, April 20: Kickstart continued their winning streak by handing Sirvodem a second straight loss after a dominant 7-0 win in the Hero Indian Women’s League at the Capital Ground on Wednesday.
The Karnataka-based team got off to a fast and dominant start as they scored as many as three goals in the first quarter of the game.
Winger Kaviya opened the scoring in the 6th minute, followed by an own goal from Sirvodem Sharda’s defender a couple of minutes later. Kaviya once again got a goal contribution when his perfect cross in the 12th minute was finely converted by Kiranbala.
Kaviya went on a rampage down the right wing, forcing Sirvodem’s defense to run into the latter’s goalkeeper, Afsan Ashiq, who made frequent mistakes.
The barrage of goals continued with striker Roja Devi perfectly utilizing goalkeeper Sirvodem’s howl to increase the lead to 4-0 in the 17th minute.
Kickstart kept a large proportion of the possession throughout the game with their continued dominance shaking the Goa team. Babysana pulled the strings from midfield as the Karnataka team orchestrated waves of attacks, one of which saw Prameshwori Irom score the fifth goal in the 25th minute.
Minutes before the half-time break, India international Roja Devi earned a brace by finding the back of the net, turning Kickstart FC into a six-goal lead and taking a breather.
Switching up, Sirvodem came out with much more intent and kept his form for much of the game. They kept their opponents at bay, preventing Kickstart from scoring further until substitute Lawmching found the net with less than 10 minutes left on the clock.
With this victory, Kickstart moves up to second place in the IWL table with six points from two matches and a goal difference of nine.
