Helen Skelton revealed her darkest secret about her marital life when she confessed she was experiencing “loneliness” after moving to France for her husband Richie Myler’s career.
The country sheet The star, 38, also said she felt “so isolated” during the move, which took place in September 2015 when Richie switched rugby teams to the Catalan Dragons, who are based in Perpignan, France.
It comes as he confirmed his split from the rugby professional in a shocking statement posted to Instagram on Monday.
But the move appeared to have a detrimental effect on the country sheet presenter, who admitted it was a ‘difficult learning curve’ in a resurfaced interview.
talking with him Daily Mail You Magazine in 2018, Helen shared: “I didn’t speak the language and felt so isolated that I used to go to the local tourist office just to talk to someone who spoke English.”
“The loneliness was crushing even though French wives and girlfriends invited me to their nights out, which was nice,” he explained.
During the family’s time in France, Helen gave birth to their second son, Louis, in April 2017, on their kitchen floor.
With Richie in England at the time, the presenter had to rely on firefighters who had arrived but were inexperienced in delivering a baby, along with two of Richie’s teammates’ wives.
She told the Mirror: “I was in France and my husband was in England, and nobody got to me on time.”
“So I gave birth with just my three-year-old by my side, hitting me repeatedly over the head with a plastic sword, because he thought we were playing dinosaurs. Frightening. But he had no choice, he just had to move on.
