After much anticipation, popular British-Malaysian actor Henry Golding has finally confirmed that a sequel to the 2018 hit drama Crazy Rich Asians is in the works.
In an interview with E! News, Golding, who played the lead role of Nick Young in the 2018 drama, said he is still in the works on a sequel for Warner Bros.
“He always bugs me (director Jon M. Chu) about it, and he always tells him the same thing: They’re trying to figure out the script. I know they’re working on it, but hopefully sooner rather than later,” the Last Christmas actor said.
With pandemic restrictions lifting around the world, the actor “can’t wait to get back to Singapore,” where the first installment was filmed.
Chu will return for the sequel, along with screenwriter Peter Chiarelli. However, co-writer Adele Lim dropped out of the sequel in 2019 due to salary disputes.
Crazy Rich Asians, which became the first Hollywood film with a prominent Asian cast, grossed nearly $240 million at the worldwide box office.
