Piers Morgan’s wife, Celia Walden, has claimed that Meghan Markle made the “crucial misstep” of forgetting that all of America loves the Queen.
Piers Morgan’s wife has lashed out at the Duchess of Sussex in a new interview, saying the former Suits star made the “crucial misstep” of forgetting that all of America loves the Queen.
Novelist Walden, speaking to Dan Wootton from her Los Angeles home, said: “I thought maybe people would protect her here, but not at all.
“She’s just a fun figure and the crucial misstep she made was forgetting that all of America loves the Queen. she goes down well.”
The award-winning author referenced Rebel Wilson’s joke about Oprah’s infamous interview at this year’s BAFTAs.
She said: “How fascinating it was that Rebel made that joke. These are his people, so normally one would expect a sharp sniff, maybe even jeers, but there were unanimous laughs because they are now officially funny figures.
“I think that will make her very angry because this is the last thing they wanted.”
Meghan Markle recently received widespread criticism for trying to trademark the word “archetypes” for the name of her first podcast series as part of her multi-million dollar deal with Spotify.
Walden said: “This has just been unanimously agreed to be something he intends to do. In fact, the only thing you should register as a trademark are some words, ‘arrogant’, ‘entitled’ and ‘absurd’ because all those things are uniquely yours”.
