Mumbai, April 18: England’s Jos Buttler (103) reached his second IPL 2022 century to help Rajasthan Royals record a massive 217/5 in 20 overs against Kolkata Knight Riders at Brabourne Stadium here on Monday.
Opening the innings, Buttler blew up nine bounds and five sixes as he shared vital partnerships of 97, for the opening wicket with Devdutt Padikkal, and 67 for the second with captain Sanju Samson, who played an excellent 38-for-19-ball cameo, to put Rajasthan Royals on course for a grand total.
However, fast wickets from Buttler and Riyan Parag slowed Rajasthan Royal’s scoring. Shimron Hetmyer (26 not out of 13 balls) hit fellow West Indies international Andre Russell for 18 runs in the 20, including six from successive balls and four in the final delivery, as the Royals set Knight Riders 218 to win the match.
Sunil Narine was the only bowler to impress the batsmen as he finished his four overs at 2/21, while Australia Test captain Pat Cummins was beaten at 1/50 of four overs.
Short scores: Rajasthan Royals 217/5 in 20 overs (Jos Buttler 103, Sanju Samson 38; Shimron Hetmyer 26 not out; Sunil Narine 2/21) vs. Kolkata Knight Riders
