Bumrah’s success down to ‘following the best processes’

Mumbai, May 10: Mumbai Indians bowler Jasprit Bumrah has revealed that his success for India and its Indian Premier League franchise Mumbai Indians is due to “following best processes” and not “looking at results”.

Bumrah, 28, had the best IPL 2022 bowling figures so far on Monday, taking five wickets for 10 runs in his four overs. But his great effort was not enough as the Rohit Sharma led Mumbai Indians ended up losing the match against Kolkata Knight Riders by 52 runs.

Bumrah grabbed the wickets of well-established Nitish Rana (43), Andre Russell (9), Sheldon Jackson (5), Pat Cummins (0), and Sunil Narine (0) to restrict two-time IPL champions KKR to 165/ 9 . But the inept batting disappointed Mumbai once again as the five-time champions could only manage 113.

The ‘Man of the Match’ award was a consolation for Bumrah, who admitted that a win would have made him even happier.

“It’s always a good feeling to contribute, but the important thing is for the team to win. We had our chances, but we couldn’t do it. My goal has always been to stick to my processes and I like to contribute as much as I can.” Bumrah said.

He also stressed the point of following the best processes and not just looking at results.

“I always do my evaluation by myself, I try to follow my own processes and not pay attention to what the outside world says. I have been in a great rhythm in this tournament. You can’t control the end result, you can only follow your best process and I accept whatever results come later,” he said.

“You can’t judge anyone by the statistics or the final results. There are many factors involved, such as the state of the game, the appearance of the dew, the risks taken at different times, that come into play.” The bowler also felt that the young Mumbai Indians team was still on the mend.

“We haven’t been able to close matches despite having opportunities. Ours is a young team that keeps improving and trying to understand their game. We’ve always been competitive and we’re just looking for some complete performances. aspire to achieve that ideal performance in the remaining matches,” he added.

Mumbai Indians will play Chennai Super Kings on May 12.
