The tragedy of last year’s Astroworld Music Festival is set to be brought to the screen in a documentary, titled concert crush.
Speaking about the documentary, director Charlie Minn said that American rapper Travis Scott should be behind bars after ten people were killed and more than 300 attendees were injured while taking the stage during Scott’s performance.
Speaking to Page Six, Minn said: “In my opinion, he is a criminal. Ten people died. How do we fix that?
“The reason he deserves criticism and jail time is because he knew there was a problem,” Minn said.
“He recognized an ambulance in the crowd. She noticed that people fainted and stopped the show three times. I’m not saying he knew people were dead, but he knew there was a problem. An ambulance is not an ice cream truck.
The documentary will open in select theaters in Texas beginning Friday for one week. It will be available to stream online.
Concert Crush features interviews with eight people who attended the concert, providing eyewitness accounts of what happened.
Minn says she’s trying to give victims a voice, telling us she hopes “all concert organizers and promoters use Astroworld as a model of what not to do.”
“I never want to see another person get hurt at a concert again,” he says. “Last time I checked you’re supposed to go for fun and not fight for your life.”
