Apple TV Plus’ first live baseball stream left some fans frustrated and disappointed, with complaints about connectivity issues and the quality of commentary surfacing during and after games (via Me more). The streaming service aired the New York Mets vs. the Washington Nationals and the Houston Astros vs. the Los Angeles Angels last night, and I think fans of all four teams can agree on one thing: the debut of Apple TV. Plus on Friday Night Baseball. Do not go down as expected.
For starters, an number from amateurs He said his streams were interrupted during games, even though his internet was working fine. When the broadcast was cut off, viewers received an error message saying, “There is a problem loading this video. If this continues, please check your internet connection.” It appears that Apple may have had some widespread connectivity issues, but there has been no confirmation from the company. Apple did not immediately respond to the edgecomment request.

When the fans could really see the game, Some saying he was muted due to distracting and sometimes blatantly off-topic comments. Instead of concentrating on the game, viewers said the announcers talked about squirrelsjapanese restaurant chain Benihanaand even Apple products. Others thought the commentators— a team Comprised of Melanie Newman, Chris Young, Hannah Keyser, Brooke Fletcher, Stephen Nelson, Hunter Pence, Katie Nolan and Heidi Watney, it seemed inexperienced with baseball.
The fans were also upset due to the lack of playback controls, which prevents them from pausing, rewinding or fast-forwarding during gameplay. To Apple’s credit, the company does say that these controllers are not supported during Friday Night Baseball on your sitebut it would still be a useful feature to have.
Friday Night Baseball on Apple TV+ (which is produced by MLB Network) is like watching the MLB app on an iPad.
Simple and clean gfx. Very branded for Apple; up to the sources.
Combined with 1080p and the shallow DoF camera around the shelters, the overall show is sharp. pic.twitter.com/N4ANJug3KK

However, things were not all bad. Some fans were impressed with the sharp image quality and lack of obnoxious commercials. Others pointed highlights the clean and simplistic on-screen graphics, such as the subtle name of the player at bat and the probability statistics in the lower right corner of the screen. Brandon Costa, Digital Director of Sports Video Group, highlighted the use of the sans-serif font that Apple often uses for its marketing materials (called “San Francisco” for all you font nerds), making it a very similar experience to Apple and MLB.
Apple first announced its association with MLB at his Peek Performance event last month. In addition to streaming live baseball, Apple TV Plus gives fans access to replays and is also ready to stream Major MLB inning, a program featuring highlights and analysis around the latest baseball games. Live baseball games are available for free on the Apple TV app Limited Timebut it’s unclear when Apple plans to require a subscription for all viewers.
