Chandigarh, March 11: Led by the Indian duo of Amritpal Singh and Vishesh Bhriguvanshi, Ahmedabad Wingers clinched their second consecutive 3BL Round 2 title after defeating Lucknow Ligers 21-10, here on Friday.
The undersized Ligers were no match for the 7-foot-tall Amritpal Singh-anchored Wingers. The Wingers’ final 21-10 margin of victory was identical to their group stage victory over the same opponents.
Early on, the Ligers tried to match their opponents, losing 6-7. But Wingers backup Gurbaaz Singh Sandhu, who replaced the injured Rajan Sharma on the roster, hit two straight 2-pointers to put the game out.
Thereafter, the international duo of Bhriguvanshi and Amritpal completed the formalities for an easy double-digit win.
“My team is good. It’s not just about me. We have the most experienced Vishesh [Bhriguvanshi] who has helped me a lot to play both in attack and defense. Our strategy is to play hard, work hard and win,” said Amritpal, who was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) this Round.
The third season features the participation of the best national and international male and female 3X3 basketball players.
